entrance situation to a suburban house
construction site

Unsatisfied by the frontal and felt as too impressive stairs and its decaying state, the clients asked for a new entrance situation to their 1980’s suburban single-family house.

The project consists in designing stairs that define spaces and uses rather then just a transition as well as in minimizing the materials used to do so.

In order to enhance and promote the use of these new spaces, the project displays the solid characteristics usually found in public areas. It appears as a carved monolith built in a custom designed acid treated concrete.
